Welcome to your igloo hut with panoramic views of Vaxholm Castle, in the heart of the Stockholm Archipelago.

Meet your hosts

We are Azin and Hernán, and we are proud owners of Archipelago Hut. We brought the igloo hut here to share the magic of the archipelago with guests from all over the world.

The hut is located on the beautiful island of Tynningö with views towards the historic Vaxholm Castle. It is well insulated and works just as well in summer as during winter's tranquillity.

We are always nearby. If you have any questions during your stay, you can easily reach us via the chat on Booking.com or via WhatsApp.

In the picture is Freddie, our golden retriever and a natural part of the family. He never stays inside the hut, out of consideration for guests with pet allergies.

  • En unik upplevelse som verkligen fångar känslan av Sverige och skärgårdslivet.

    Vi besökte Igloo Hut en solig fredag i maj och fick en fantastisk upplevelse från början till slut. Atmosfären var unik, lugn och otroligt mysig, verkligen något utöver det vanliga. Resan dit blev dessutom en del av upplevelsen. Vi tog båten från Strömkajen och fick njuta av en vacker tur genom Stockholms skärgård med magiska vyer längs vägen.

    Älskade allt med boendet! Det var väl städat och så fint läge, de hade allt i omtanke det fanns allting man kan tänka sig behöva för att ha en underbar vistelse. De var dessutom så himla omhändertagande och så hjälpsamma, svarade på alla frågor fanns alltid där om man undrade något. Kommer hundra procent att boka igen inte bara för läget och priset utan framförallt för det underbara bemötandet!

  • Jag kan bara säga WOW, vilken upplevelse!

    Att bo en natt i hutten var en fantastisk upplevelse. Allt var rent, snyggt och väldigt fint förberett när vi kom dit. Köket var välutrustat och oerhört uppskattat att det fanns kaffe och te i pentryt. Utsikten över Stockholmsskärgård var helt magisk och det var något speciellt med att vakna upp ute på vattnet i den lugna miljön.

  • En magisk vistelse med fantastisk utsikt och värdar utöver det vanliga

    Men det som verkligen gjorde vår vistelse oförglömlig var värdarna, Hernan och Azin. Jag har bokat en hel del hotell och boenden genom åren, men sällan mött värdar som varit så hjälpsamma, omtänksamma och genuint gulliga.

You can reach Archipelago Hut on Tynningö in several ways. The address is Juliusbergsvägen 21, 134 92 Vaxholm.

By boat (Waxholmsbolaget)

Waxholmsbolaget operates regular boat services to Tynningö from Stockholm. SL cards are valid on board.

From central Stockholm

  • From Strömkajen or Nybrokajen stop
  • To Norra Tynningö stop
    Journey time approximately 1.5 hours depending on route and season.

From Vaxholm
You can also take a bus from central Stockholm to Vaxholm, then continue by boat to Tynningö.

From Norra Tynningö stop it's about a 15-minute walk to the boatyard where the cottage is located.

By car

Enter the address Juliusbergsvägen 21, 134 92 Vaxholm into any GPS.

The car ferry to Tynningö departs from Norra Lagnö, Värmdö with several departures daily. Please see https://www.trafikverket.se/resa-och-trafik/farjetrafik/tynningoleden/ for the current timetable.

You can park for free on the gravel down by the boatyard.

By bus

You can also travel all the way to Norra Tynningö by SL bus. Bus 689 departs from Gustavsbergs Centrum, Värmdö. After that, it's about a 15-minute walk to the boatyard.

The kitchen

In the kitchen you can prepare simple meals on the gas stove, or why not brew a good cup of coffee or tea using the coffee maker?

Gas cooker

Fridge

The fridge is inside the hut, see picture. This is also where you'll find the bottled water.

Coffee & Tea

Coffee, tea and the cafetière are in the cupboard next to the bed. The kettle is in the bottom kitchen drawer.

How to brew in the cafetière

  1. Rinse the cafetière with hot water to warm the glass — then empty it.
  2. Measure out about 4 spoonfuls of coarsely ground coffee, enough for 2 people.
  3. Boil the water, let it cool for half a minute and then pour it in almost to the top.
  4. Stir a couple of times with a spoon.
  5. Put the lid on with the plunger pulled up and let it sit for 4 minutes.
  6. Press the plunger down slowly and serve straight away — if the coffee sits on the grounds it will turn bitter.

Check-in is super easy and happens entirely digitally.

Code lock
The four-digit code is changed between each guest and is therefore sent separately via the chat on Booking.com.

Heating system

Air Heat Pump/AC
The air heat pump/AC is located behind the bed. You control the temperature using the white remote control (see image below). Note that you do not operate the air heat pump via the control panel on the wall behind the bed.

Diesel Heater
If for any reason you prefer to use the built-in diesel heater instead of the air heat pump: Switch off the air heat pump using the white remote control, and turn on heating via the control panel behind the bed. Note that the systems should not be on at the same time, as they do not work well together.

In winter
When it is properly cold outside, the diesel heater is the one that copes. Please use it — you set it on the small touchscreen behind the bed. Remember to switch the air heat pump off first.

Water

Tap water
Comes from a privately drilled well on the property and is not tested. It's probably safe to drink, but we recommend using it only for washing up and hand washing, or alternatively for making coffee/tea with the kettle.

Drinking water
Bottled water is in the fridge.

The toilet

The toilet is a composting toilet, which means solid waste is separated from liquid. Use it like a normal toilet, but you don't need to flush.

The outdoor terrace

You're very welcome to freely use both the floating jetty and the outer section of the fixed jetty, where tables and chairs are set out.

You'll find the Wi-Fi settings on the screen behind the bed.
Check that the Wi-Fi setting is set to "Wi-Fi Off".
To change the setting, simply press "Wi-Fi On / Wi-Fi Off".
